FinLapset - Monitoring of child and adolescent health and well-being
The Finnish institute for health and welfare (THL) collects data on the health and well-being of children, adolescents and their families. The objective is to produce timely and representative information on the health and well-being of children, adolescents and their families as well as on associated factors and time-related changes.
Central sources of information are the regular health check-ups conducted by public child health clinics or school health care complemented by data from national registers and supplementary data collection, if necessary. The target group consists of 0-16-year-old children and adolescents.
The first phase involves producing contemporary and reliable data on child and adolescent overweight and obesity.
Child and adolescent overweight and obesity 2018
The report presents information on the prevalence of overweight and obesity as well as on the coverage of height and weight data of 2-16-year-old children and adolescents living in Finland in 2014-2018. The data is based on height and weight measurements recorded at public health care visits in child health clinics or school health care from where the data is transferred to the Finnish Primary Health Care Visits (Avohilmo) Register maintained by THL.
The interactive map and municipality-specific result summaries enable regional inspection of the prevalence of child and adolescent overweight and obesity as well as of height and weight data coverage by gender and age group.
We appreciate feedback on user experiences and the functioning of the municipality-specific result summaries. Feedback can be addressed to: firstname.lastname@example.org
